"Apple is a rip-off merchant," consumers enthusiastic about Musk.

Tesla's CEO Elon Musk strongly criticized Apple for paying high app fees. Musk said on the 30th (local time) that Apple is "clearly overcharging the app store" as he sided with Epic, a game developer who is suing Apple over the app market fee.

Apple currently receives a 30% commission from Appsto. Public opinion that fees are excessive is widely shared by content companies. However, most content companies have no choice but to use Apple's App Store, so they are paying high-priced fees by crying and eating mustard.

Musk pointed out this point. Musk said on Twitter, "Apple's App Store fee is actually a global tax on the Internet," defending Epic, saying, "Epik is right." Musk said that the 30% commission that Apple takes while running the app store is completely unreasonable. When Musk criticized Apple's high price policy, consumers responded enthusiastically. As of 5 p.m. on the 31st (Korea time), nearly 180,000 people liked Musk's Twitter account, showing enthusiastic response.

Apple uses its monopoly status in the mobile phone market as well as app fees to implement high-priced policies on mobile phones and their peripherals. Apple posted $81.4 billion (about KRW 94 trillion) in sales in the second quarter, up 36% from a year earlier, compared to 43.3 percent in operating profit. This means that the company sold 100 won worth and left 43 won. Arithmetically, it is said that even if Apple lowers its operating profit ratio to around 20%, iPhone prices can be reduced by nearly half from the current level.

Apple is setting various service fees as well as products. In case of app fees, 30% is applied in common worldwide, and Korea is no exception. Google, which runs the Android Google Play Store, also sets a 30 percent commission. Google is facing backlash from the industry as it plans to further force all content companies to use Google Payments. Some point out that the two companies are secretly colluding at a time when Apple and Google dominate more than 80% of the world's app markets. Currently, U.S. authorities are investigating Apple and Google's monopoly.

In August last year, Epic rebelled against Apple's App Market Fee policy and introduced its own app payment system, and Apple expelled Epic's popular game "Fortnite" from the app store for violating regulations. Epic then filed an anti-trust lawsuit against Apple.

Musk also criticized Apple on the 26th. At a conference call to announce Tesla's performance, he said "Apple," pretending to cough mockingly at Apple. Musk called Apple's App Store policy "walled garden."

Musk also denied Apple's offer to buy Tesla, which was described in the new book "Power Play: Tesla, Elon Musk, and the Bet of the Century" by a Wall Street Journal reporter. The book said Apple CEO Tim Cook told Musk that he wanted to take over Tesla, and Musk asked him to take over Apple's CEO position on condition that he agreed. But Musk denied it. "I asked Cook to meet me once to talk about Apple's acquisition of Tesla, but Cook refused to meet me," Musk said. "At that time, Tesla was about 6 percent of its current value."
