CNBC reported on the 19th (local time) that Japan's largest cryptocurrency exchange was hacked and worth 97 million dollars (113.6 billion won) worth of cryptocurrency was stolen.
Liquid, Japan's largest cryptocurrency exchange, was attacked by hackers and lost more than 100 billion won in cryptocurrency.
Liquid announced on Twitter that it would stop trading for the time being as soon as it found out about the hacking. "We are currently investigating the damage in detail and will disclose it as soon as we find out," Liquid said.
Liquid did not disclose the size of the hacking, but according to the analysis of Epiliptic, a blockchain company, Liquid reportedly had all 97 million dollars in cryptocurrency stolen.
According to Coin Market Cap, a global coin market relay site, Liquid is one of the top 20 cryptocurrency exchanges in the world based on daily trading volume, and has processed more than $133 million in the past 24 hours.
Earlier on the 10th, a large-scale cryptocurrency hacking incident occurred. Hackers stole more than $600 million in cryptocurrency from the so-called distributed financial company "Poly Network." However, hackers started talking to the group and returned almost all of the funds, making headlines.
